100 New Technologies in Phosphorus Chemistry to Be Developed within 10 Years 2012-04-18 10:27 Source: Sinochem News Network. Over the next 10 years, China will develop 100 key technologies in phosphorus chemistry across three main areas; 30 of these phosphorus chemistry products will occupy the leading positions in the world market, thereby enabling clean production and advanced development in this industry. These are the objectives for advancing phosphorus chemical industry technologies, as jointly determined by universities, enterprises, industry associations, and local authorities at the launching ceremony of the Advanced Phosphorus Chemical Technology and Equipment Collaborative Innovation Alliance, held on April 14 at Sichuan University. To tackle the key technologies in the phosphorus chemical industry, universities, enterprises, industry associations, and local authorities will cooperate closely to establish a collaborative innovation alliance for advanced phosphorus chemical technologies and equipment. The alliance will focus on addressing the fundamental, forward-looking, and strategic issues related to the scientific development of the phosphorus chemicals industry, taking key technologies for the utilization of low-grade phosphate ores and associated resources, key technologies for the purification of phosphoric acid and the production of high-purity phosphorus-based chemicals, as well as key technologies for the recycling of waste materials and the advancement of a circular economy, as its three main areas of focus. According to Professor Liang Bin, dean of the School of Chemical Engineering at Sichuan University, the establishment of this collaborative innovation alliance helps to develop key technologies and pilot-scale platforms for collaborative innovation in the phosphorus chemicals industry, as well as a comprehensive set of engineering solutions for the effective utilization of low-grade phosphate ores. This, in turn, addresses a range of major challenges facing the development of this industry, including research and development of high-quality phosphorus chemicals and products of high purity, clean production methods in phosphorus chemistry and the recycling of waste materials, comprehensive utilization of phosphate ore resources, and the recovery of fluorine, magnesium, and iodine elements. Over the next 10 years, collaborative innovation alliances will strive to overcome the current bottlenecks that hinder the development of China’s phosphorus chemical industry. They will develop key, core, and common technologies characterized by principles of circular economy and sustainability. Special emphasis will be placed on mastering the key technologies for 100 new phosphorus chemical products, such as ultra-pure yellow phosphorus, as well as high-purity phosphoric acid products for electronic and semiconductor applications. Additionally, technologies for high-purity phosphorus chemical products intended for use in the food, pharmaceutical, electronic, and specialized industries will be developed, along with technologies for organic phosphorus chemical products used in pesticides, food, materials, and additives. In addition, the collaborative innovation alliance will assemble innovative teams to explore research organization models that integrate collaboration among universities, between universities and enterprises, as well as on an international scale. It will establish a collaborative innovation framework, set up a demonstration base for building world-class capabilities in collaborative innovation in the phosphorus chemicals industry, and ultimately create a collaborative innovation platform that combines key research on efficient utilization of low-grade phosphate ores, development of high-purity and sophisticated phosphorus chemicals, as well as environmentally friendly circular economy technologies in this sector, thereby forming first-class collaborative innovation teams. The Advanced Phosphorus Chemical Technology and Equipment Collaborative Innovation Alliance was established under the leadership of Sichuan University, in collaboration with institutions such as Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Tianjin University, Yuntianhua Group, Wengfu Group, New Hope Group, Longmang Group, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the Chinese Chemical Society, the Phosphate Fertilizer Association, as well as local governments from Sichuan Province and Yunnan Province – including universities, enterprises, industry associations, and local authorities. More than 100 academicians and experts in the field of phosphorus chemicals, including Zhao Yufen, Chen Bingzhen, and Chen Jisheng, attended the launch meeting.
