What is a node signal?

I just saw a member in the group who uses Shanghai Guanghua Instrument’s electromagnetic flow meters. On the gauge’s documentation, there are terms like “IN-” and “IN+”. After checking the manual, it says these refer to “signal node inputs”. I don’t understand what these signal node inputs actually are; anyone who knows please advise me. Thank you!
Simply put, they are wiring terminals. The positive and negative connection terminals for the signal line input. . . . . .
IN means input. It refers to the connection method of the positive and negative wires.
If they are on the terminal board of the control cabinet, I can understand it – those are the signals sent from the electromagnetic flowmeter to the control room. But the thing is, these two terminals are located on the electromagnetic flowmeter itself; could it be that the electromagnetic flowmeter also receives external signals? The electromagnetic flowmeter already has terminals for transmitting signals back to the control room, and they are already connected; I just don’t understand what the IN- terminals are for The manual indicates it as a signal input node.
A normal node signal refers to a switch signal, namely 0 or 1; it is 1 when the switch is on, and 0 when it is off.
