As the title asks, what materials are commonly used for boiler economizers? Is any cast iron used?
This isn’t really very clear. The temperature that the economizer experiences is much lower compared to that of the superheater; it depends on the temperature and pressure of the boiler
Savings boilers are generally designed as shell-and-tube heat exchangers; they are complex to manufacture, and the large temperature differences during startup and shutdown can cause cracking. Once worn out, they are difficult to repair.
In boilers using 25-ton waste heat boilers with economizers made of steel for grade 20 steel, the economizers in 10-ton bituminous coal boilers are made of cast iron. This is related to the heat exchange area and design conventions; if a large heat exchange area is required, carbon steel pipes are more feasible. To achieve an area of 1,000 square units, using cast iron is highly impractical. On the contrary, since the area is limited, boiler manufacturers do not produce such economizers on their own; cast iron components are available everywhere for this purpose, and it is a standard configuration for conventional boilers, which is also preferred by boiler manufacturers.
Previously, it seemed to be cast iron, but now our factory uses ordinary steel.
The economizers used in our factory’s 10-ton and 20-ton boilers are all cast components.
