The ammonia compressor in the plant has been experiencing high vibration levels behind the turbine – 60 um – while the oil temperature is normal. Now, the vibration levels on all four sides of the turbine have reached over 60 um as well. The plant hired experts to diagnose the problem; they came up with various possible causes. But since the machine cannot be stopped at the moment, what’s the use of having experts… I hope members of the group can discuss this issue; it would be great if anyone has encountered similar problems before
It has been running for a few years now; the pressure in the wheel chamber must be high, and I guess the impeller is clogged with scale. Steam quality issues. Personal opinion.
Actually, I’m really curious to know what the experts say. Then do you need to provide more detailed information, such as the spectrum diagram of that vibration? Otherwise, how can it be analyzed? There’s no basis for it
It could be that the bearings are worn, or the seals are damaged. In our factory, we have encountered situations where the compressor had high vibration levels; upon disassembling the cylinder, it was found that the seals were damaged.
