Currently, most exhaust gas absorption towers use water or alkalis as the absorbing liquid, with the choice depending on the properties of the exhaust gas to be absorbed. Is there a better absorbing liquid for phenols? Also, can absorbents such as activated carbon be effective?

Phenols can be effectively absorbed using alkaline solutions; it is possible to explore improvements in the absorption tower, such as adopting more efficient absorption methods or changing the packing material used in the tower； If activated carbon adsorption is used, the waste carbon generated is considered hazardous waste unless you have a regeneration process, and its disposal costs are very high.
