Regarding the flow rate of medium-pressure steam

Here, A+K flowmeters are used along with Rosemount transmitters. The configuration is carried out using Emerson’s DETLV automation software. For medium-pressure steam flowmeters, should the flow accumulation be performed by taking the square root on the transmitter side or within the configuration?
Generally, the square root is taken at the transmitter; of course, it can also be done on the DCS! ! !
The square root can be applied either on the flow meter or on the transmitter, but not repeatedly; it must be applied at only one end.
What does it mean by an indirect square-root signal being used for the DETLV signal input in Emerson devices?
