Hard protection measures refer to the interlock protection control system. When the operating conditions of the production process exceed certain limits, the interlock protection system takes a series of corresponding actions, such as issuing alarms, switching from automatic to manual mode, and activating interlocks, to keep the production process in a relatively safe state. However, such strict protective measures often cause production to stop, resulting in significant economic losses. Thus, in practice, many safer and more economical soft protection measures have been developed to reduce the losses caused by parking. So-called soft protection measures mean that when the operating conditions exceed a certain range, instead of passively activating interlock protections or even shutting down the system, it automatically switches to a new control system; this new control system takes over the control of the production process from the original one. Once the conditions return to normal, it automatically switches back to the original control system. To determine whether the operating conditions are normal, it is necessary to choose between the two control systems. Therefore, it is called a selective control system, and is sometimes also referred to as replacement control or override control. Is soft protection the same as soft limiting?

Using the term ‘control system’ isn’t very accurate; ‘control scheme’ would be better. It’s still the same control system, but switched to another control scheme. The goal is to restore the operating conditions to normal.
It’s a relationship of large and small; protection constitutes the control scheme, while limiting measures represent the implementation details
Strictly speaking, soft protection is a transitional measure and cannot replace interlocking! ! ! Because the security levels are different! ! ! So the strategies are different too! One cannot simply focus on pursuit!
