As air flows through an air cooling tower, its temperature decreases, and accordingly the saturated moisture content drops; the excess moisture then precipitates from the gas in liquid form. This portion of water vapor condenses into water, releasing latent heat of condensation; this not only increases the amount of cooling water but also raises the water temperature.
