How to handle methanol carried in the carbon-enriched gas from VPSA hydrogen production from methanol
Is the methanol residue higher at the front? To control residual scale, replace the catalyst when its lifespan is up. Isn’t the temperature of the converted gas also a bit too high? It is necessary to control the temperature of the gas entering the PSA converter.
Is there that much methanol in the exhaust gas? Is the reaction temperature too low?? Is the gas-liquid separator not working properly?? Or has the catalyst’s activity declined significantly? ~~
Process adjustments can be attempted for the following reasons: first, poor washing efficiency; second, inadequate gas-liquid separation; third, excessive gas velocity leading to mist entrainment; fourth, large fluctuations in system pressure. Just my humble opinion; please feel free to correct me. If there are any mistakes, I hope you can forgive them.
Carbon-rich gases carrying methanol do have a strong odor, and this is a very common issue. To remove it, the separation efficiency of the gas-liquid separator for that gas is generally adjusted, and a water scrubber is added to absorb methanol from the gas.
