Is it necessary to perform alkali cleaning on equipment made of molybdenum steel during downtime? If so, could someone please tell me which guideline it comes from?
Molybdenum alloy steel is not required; austenitic stainless steel needs to be protected against stress corrosion caused by polyoxysulfuric acid
Yes, I made a mistake; it’s austenitic stainless steel. I have another question: does all austenitic stainless steel require alkali washing? Is that the practice in your factory as well?
Procedures are procedures, but sometimes they aren’t necessarily followed; this was the case when we opened our reactor.
