During a recent inspection of the metal ring gaskets, it was found that there was mixing of different types of gaskets; for example, stainless steel gaskets were replaced with soft iron gaskets, and lower-grade gaskets were substituted with higher-grade ones. What grades of metal gasket materials can be used together? (Of course, I know that lower-grade materials in terms of pressure resistance and quality cannot replace higher-grade ones.) What are the potential hazards? Are there specific standards? Thank you to all the masters

In our chemical industry, there is a rule that goes: use higher specifications for lower-grade products, and not lower specifications for higher-grade ones. Just knowing this is enough; such rules constitute the standards.
Metal gaskets and PTFE gaskets of different specifications and pressure ratings may not be able to be aligned, and some simply cannot be installed at all!
Do not mix them; use the appropriate grade for each purpose.
The materials are selected based on the properties of your medium; those that meet American standards all have a ring rating, and generally, those with a rating of 900LB or less almost all have the same ring rating
They cannot be used interchangeably; if the pressure ratings are different, you won’t be able to fit them in, and even if they can be fitted in, testing under pressure is not reliable.
