I would like to ask the teachers: In our sulfur plant, there are more than a dozen flanges on the medium-pressure saturated steam drums and the heaters that use medium-pressure saturated steam for heating, which are leaking and cannot be sealed properly; clamps have been used to try to fix them. I was wondering if this phenomenon occurs elsewhere as well. Are there any good methods to reduce and prevent leaks in medium-pressure saturated steam?
I would like to ask whether your facilities are only repaired and put back into operation, or newly constructed, within half a year? Is it a ribbed flange? If this is the case, such a concentrated occurrence of leaks is most likely due to issues that arose during pipeline construction: 1. The flange sealing surfaces were not cleaned thoroughly, leaving impurities behind ； 2. Pitting or damage on the flange sealing surface ； 3. The gasket is damaged during storage and handling ； Leakage occurs due to poor sealing of the gasket caused by the above reasons.
If the flange was disconnected previously and no new gasket was installed, this kind of situation can also occur; that’s exactly what happened to us
