Why does the concentration of light components in the bottom liquid increase when the pressure in the distillation column rises?
When the pressure is high, the lighter components can’t evaporate!
As pressure increases, the boiling point of the light component rises, and the boiling range between the two components narrows. Therefore, if you maintain the same reboiler load, the amount of light component at the bottom of the tower will naturally increase
As the pressure increases, the relative volatility between components decreases, making separation more difficult. The separation efficiency of the column decreases, and as a result, the light components at the bottom of the column increase. Moreover, the Reorganization components at the top of the tower will also increase.
When the pressure in the distillation column increases, the pressure at the bottom of the column rises as well. This leads to an increase in the boiling point of the liquid at the bottom of the column, resulting in a decrease in the evaporation rate of the light components. Consequently, the concentration of the light components increases
After pressurization in the tower, the density of the gas phase increases; some of the light components liquefy and enter the bottom of the tower, resulting in an increase in the concentration of these light components in the liquid at the bottom.
