I would like to ask if anyone is aware of the status of the pilot plant for China National Offshore Oil Chemical Co., Ltd.’s \"new synthesis process technology for paraformaldehyde\" Only a mid-project evaluation meeting was held – why is there no further action?
I also want to know how things progress from here on
I just found information online: The world’s first industrial-scale trial using an ionic liquid catalyst to synthesize trioxane has been successful. The pilot-scale plant for the synthesis of triomethylenetetraoxane, which relies on core technologies provided by the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been in operation for nearly a month. Compared with traditional techniques, the ion liquid-catalyzed synthesis of trimethylolpropane reduces environmental pollution and equipment corrosion, thereby significantly lowering investment costs. This system utilizes catalysts and catalytic reaction processes developed by the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Fuyi International Engineering Company was responsible for the pilot-scale design, while CNOOC Chemical Company handled the construction of the pilot-scale plant and its commissioning, resulting in the production of high-quality paraformaldehyde at CNOOC Chemical Co., Ltd. (Hainan Dongfang). This pilot plant scales up the laboratory-scale reaction process developed by Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics to a capacity of 2,000 tons, with a scaling factor of over 40,000 times. It utilizes the LZT-I type ionic liquid catalyst that enables batch production; the first trial run successfully completed the entire process, reproducing the laboratory research results and highlighting the innovative integration of key core technologies and system technologies. During its implementation, the project received support from the key project of the **11th Five-Year Plan’s Science and Technology Support Program – technologies for the comprehensive utilization of bulk oxygen-containing compounds via non-petroleum routes**, as well as from an important strategic project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences – new technologies for the clean synthesis of paraformaldehyde. The project completed laboratory testing in 2006, the device design was finalized in 2007, and the device was built completed in October 2008. On the day of the trial run, experts and the team members from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics who were involved in the monitoring, testing, and analysis during the operation stayed at the site throughout the night. Through close cooperation among all parties, the entire process was successfully streamlined, and the operating parameters of the device were continuously optimized to ensure stability. At 16:00 on January 11, 2009, the concentration of polyoxymethylene in the reaction mixture began to increase ; At 7:00 on January 12, the concentration of triomethylenetetraoxane reached 28.5%, and by 22:00 it had risen to 38%, **which is higher than the concentration of triomethylenetetraoxane in the sulfuric acid-based reaction solution.
This pilot plant operates well; its technology has been patented in the United States, resulting in a significant reduction in investment costs for the plant.
Does CNOOC’s POM project in Inner Mongolia also use this technology?
At present, the triomethylenetetraoxide section of this project is under scale-up; the scale has been increased by 40,000 times from pilot scale to pilot-to-production scale, and it is now at the thousand-ton level. To reach the ten-thousand-ton level, only another tenfold increase is required, which should happen soon.
Are there any plans to transfer this technology to other companies?
I want to know that too; I’m quite interested in this technology.
I hope it can be launched on the market soon. Make a greater contribution to our country’s chemical industry.
The main process is Dutch technology. . .
**Higher than the concentration of the sulfuric acid method? Where are the data? A concentration of 38% is considered low
