What is the basis for not allowing transfer pumps to be placed inside the fire dike of Class C tank areas?
1. Clause 4.2.7 of GB50016-2006 \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings\" stipulates that the fire protection distance between liquid storage tanks of classes A, B, and C and the loading/unloading pipelines in pump rooms shall not be less than the values specified in Table 4.2.7. Table 4.2.7 specifies that the distance between Class C liquid storage tanks and pump rooms must be at least 10 m (for Class C liquid storage tanks with a total storage capacity of less than 5000 m3, this distance may be reduced by 25% as indicated in the table, provided that the distance from the foundation to the outside of the fire dike is still at least 5 m). 2. In HG/T 20546-2009 \"Specifications for the Layout Design of Chemical Plant Equipment\", clause 2.2.3 states that pump rooms in tank areas are generally located outside the fire dike, with a distance from the outer side of the fire dike of not less than 5 m. The distance from storage tanks for flammable and explosive liquids should meet the requirements of the Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises, GB50160 ; Article 2.2.6: When pumps in a tank farm are installed outdoors, they are generally placed outside the cofferdams and fire dikes, and the distance between them and the storage tanks containing flammable and explosive liquids must meet the requirements specified in the Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises, GB50160. 3. GB50160-2008 \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises\", Article 5.3.5: The dedicated pump area for tank groups shall be located outside the fire dike, and the fire separation distance from the storage tanks shall comply with the following requirements: 1 The distance from Class A storage tanks shall not be less than 15 m ; 2 The distance from Class A/B fixed-roof storage tanks should be no less than 12 m; for Class A/B fixed-roof storage tanks with a capacity of 500 m3 or less, the distance should be no less than 10 m ; 3. The distance from floating roof and internal floating roof tanks, as well as Class C-A fixed-roof storage tanks, should be no less than 10 m; for internal floating roof tanks and Class C-A fixed-roof storage tanks with a capacity of 500 m3 or less, the distance should be no less than 8 m.
