I. Setting of the torque for BAIER hydraulic torque wrenches: 1) It is set based on the designed torque of the equipment; for most devices, the specific torque value for the bolts is specified in the product’s technical parameters, and this value constitutes the set torque. 2) The design torque is not specified in the technical parameters; during the renovation and maintenance of old equipment, it is often impossible to determine the exact design torque. For the sake of equipment safety and personal safety, it is recommended to set the torque according to the recommended bolt pre-tension table. The specific method is as follows: set the torque = (value from the recommended table) × (80%–90%). For example, for an M56 bolt of grade 8.8, the recommended preload force according to the table is 5978 N.M; therefore, the set torque is 5978 × 80% = 4782 N.M. II. Setting of pressure for the BAIER hydraulic pump station: 1) The pressure of the pump station is set by referring to the \"Pressure-Torque Chart\" included in the BAIER hydraulic wrench manual, based on the required torque value and the type of wrench being used. For example: if the set torque is 4620 N.M., use the WREN 8MXTA hydraulic wrench; refer to the torque chart in the operation and maintenance manual for the WREN MXTA hydraulic wrench, specifically the row corresponding to 8MXTA – a torque of 4620 N.M. corresponds to a setting pressure of 30 MPa at the pump station. 2) When the set torque is in imperial units of ft.lbs, consult the imperial-to-imperial torque conversion table in the BAIER hydraulic wrench operation and maintenance manual. Note: Metric-to-imperial unit conversion! Case: In July 2015, at a wind power installation site in Inner Mongolia, due to the negligence of the project technician who mistakenly treated N.M as ft.lbs, an incorrect pressure value was obtained by consulting a table; as a result, the actual torque exceeded the specified torque by more than 35%.
