The slag lockhopper weighs 38 tons and has dimensions of Φ2200mm×6500mm; it is an important component of the water-coal slurry gasification process. In this process, the slag lockhopper serves as a link between the upper and lower sections. Its upper part is connected to the gasification furnace via a slag breaker, which collects the residues remaining after the combustion of the coal slurry in the gasification furnace into a slag lockhopper. After collecting the slag for a period of time, the pressure in the slag hopper is released, and then the slag is discharged into the slag tank through the pipes and valves at the bottom of the hopper. It’s simply a mechanism for buffering and balancing pressure, similar to lock systems. Due to the difference in water levels upstream and downstream, when a ship enters the lock, the water level is raised or lowered so that it matches the level upstream or downstream, after which the ship is released
