This represents a significant breakthrough in the localization of key equipment in the LNG industry, breaking the monopoly held by foreign brands and filling a technical gap in China regarding this type of valve. It plays an important role in promoting the development of this industry and ensuring that critical technologies are under domestic control. As the core protection device for LNG storage tanks, the pressure relief valve of such tanks has a direct impact on the intrinsic safety of these tanks. Beihai LNG Company was approved in July 2020 to initiate efforts aimed at achieving domestic production. On May 31, 2022, the \"Domestically produced LNG storage tank pressure relief valve\" passed the product appraisal conducted by the China General Machinery Industry Association, and it was recommended for widespread adoption.
In the first and middle ten days of August, to ensure the smooth commissioning of \"domestically produced valves,\" Beihai LNG Company made active preparations and thorough arrangements. It addressed various details such as the rationality analysis for replacing old equipment with new one, safety analyses related to changes in equipment and facilities, safety analyses of process operations, emergency response plans and drills for unexpected situations, as well as the verification of installation dimensions on site. By tackling each of these aspects one by one, the company strived to bridge the final gap between scientific research on domestically produced PSV valves and their actual use in practice.
