Sinopec’s first SE water-cooled wall gasification unit for water-coal slurry comes online

On November 25, the gasification unit of Baling Petrochemical’s annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of caprolactam industrial chain relocation, upgrading, and transformation project was successfully commissioned for the first time. This facility is the key unit in the upstream part of the Baling Petrochemical’s caprolactam industry chain relocation, upgrading, and transformation project. It is also Sinopec’s first gasification unit to adopt the SE water-cooled wall gasification technology developed in collaboration with East China University of Science and Technology. Compared with traditional water-coal slurry gasification technology, this technology can effectively improve the carbon conversion rate and the composition of the useful gases; it offers significant savings in coal and oxygen usage, and expands the range of raw coal that can be used in gasification units. The facility is divided into an air separation unit and a gasification unit. The air separation unit was put into operation on November 11, and on November 16 it began to produce high-quality oxygen and nitrogen, laying a solid foundation for the operation of the gasification unit.
