This unit provides essential equipment support for the development of acidic gas fields as well as for maintaining and increasing production levels.
High-sulfur compressors have extremely high requirements in terms of corrosion resistance, sealing performance, and safety; they represent the premium category of natural gas compressors. Previously, such products relied mainly on imports. As a manufacturing base in China for domestically produced compressors, relying on its strong capabilities in independent innovation in compressor technology, it developed China’s first 200,000 cubic meter compressor designed for handling high-sulfur natural gas, meeting the needs of the Puguang gas field and filling a gap in domestic technology.
On May 19, 2023, China’s first high-sulfur natural gas compression unit completed its 4,000-hour secondary maintenance at Station 101 in the Puguang gas field in Sichuan. To date, this unit has operated steadily for a total of 4,000 hours, marking a new breakthrough in its long-term safe operation and providing a reliable guarantee for the further development of the Puguang gas field.
To ensure the sustained and stable production of the Puguang gas field, in 2022, the Puguang Branch, together with Sinopec Petroleum Machinery Company, completed the development of domestically produced compression units as well as pilot projects for boosting acidic gases in the gas field. They overcame the key technical challenges associated with high-sulfur reciprocating compressors, developing a set of efficient, modular, and intelligent reciprocating compressors. A range of advanced technologies for boosting acidic wet gases was also developed, filling a gap in domestic capabilities. These technologies passed the evaluation by experts from the group company, and their overall level reached international advanced standards. “Domestically, high-sulfur compressor units of domestic production had previously been non-existent, with no precedents for their successful use. After being installed at the Puguang 101 gas collection station, continuous optimization and improvement were carried out based on ongoing research and experiments by technical personnel. As a result, the fault-free operation period of these domestically produced compressor units was significantly extended, while maintenance became more economical and convenient. ”
It can effectively handle conditions involving hydrogen sulfide, providing assurance for oil and gas field development.
