Construction begins on 2-million-ton coal coking project in Guizhou’s Energy Water City, with a total investment of 4.16 billion yuan

On December 22, the Guizhou Energy Shuicheng Coal Coking Project, undertaken by Hunan Installation’s Second Branch, officially commenced construction. The project is located within the Shuigang Steel Plant area in Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province. The construction work includes the foundation of Coke Oven No. 6, the coal tower, as well as the structures and buildings between Coke Ovens No. 5 and No. 6; the retaining wall on the side of Building No. 5; the track structure for coke quenching vehicles; the control panel structure for Coke Oven No. 6; the end platform of Coke Oven No. 6; the second track of the coke oven; supports for the dust removal main pipes; the building for Coke Oven No. 6; and the building for the flue chambers. The total duration of the project is 255 days. The project department stated that it will continue to strengthen the preliminary construction organization and preparation work, accelerate the efficient allocation of human and material resources, organize tasks carefully and in a scientific manner, enhance the implementation and enforcement of plans, and make every effort to advance the project construction. On July 24, 2023, the review meeting for the feasibility study report of Guizhou Shuicheng Energy (Group) Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Guizhou Energy Shuicheng”)’s 2 million tons per year coal coking project aimed at comprehensive circular economy utilization was held at Guizhou Panjiang Power Investment Co., Ltd. On March 20, 2024, the signing ceremony for Guizhou (Shengyixin Energy) Panzhou coal-coke-chemical-integrated energy circular economy project was held. On May 6, 2024, Guizhou Energy Shuicheng Coal, Electricity, and Chemical Integration Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site for the 2-million-ton-per-year project aimed at utilizing coal coking gas in a circular economy framework to produce natural gas (SNG). On August 1, 2024, the construction of the second coke oven in Guizhou Energy Shuicheng’s 2 million tons per year coal coking project for circular economy and comprehensive utilization officially began. Construction Contents: The main construction elements include coal preparation, coking, dry quenching of coke, coke processing, and gas purification systems; there is also a facility for converting excess coke oven gas into natural gas (SNG). In addition, there are systems for generating electricity from the waste heat from dry quenching processes and hydrogen-rich gas, as well as facilities for storage and transportation, auxiliary services, environmental protection, and living and office purposes. The construction scale is 2 million tons per year of dry quenched coke, 186 million cubic meters per year of SNG produced from coke oven gas, and 386 million kWh per year of electricity generated from the waste heat of dry quenching coke and hydrogen-rich gas.
