On April 27, the integrated coupling cycle project for \"phosphorus, sulfur, titanium, copper, iron, and lithium fluoride\" in Kaiyang, Guizhou, commenced construction in Shuangyong Village, Shuangliu Town, Kaiyang County, Guiyang City. It is understood that the \"Phosphorus-Sulfur-Titanium-Copper-Lithium-Fluorine\" coupled cycle integration project is a demonstration project for a resource recycling industry driven by phosphorus; it involves the construction of facilities for producing 1.4 million tons of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate, along with 400,000 tons of titanium dioxide, 600,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate, 150,000 tons of lithium carbonate, 10,000 tons of lithium fluoride, 20,000 tons of lithium hexafluorophosphate, 100,000 tons of copper through smelting, the production of sulfuric acid from phosphogypsum, cogeneration projects, as well as various auxiliary and supporting projects. “Once this project is implemented, the new energy sector of the Phosphating Group will achieve self-sufficiency in lithium, iron, and titanium resources, while the excess lithium carbonate and ferrous sulfate heptahydrate can be supplied to other new energy enterprises within the province. ”He Guangliang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Guizhou Phosphating (Group) Co., Ltd., said. It is reported that this project focuses on the new energy materials sector, the sulfur-titanium sector, the metal smelting sector, and the utility engineering sector; it makes full use of resources such as phosphorus, titanium, lithium, and fluorine to carry out advanced processing, and through the integration of various links in the industrial chain, it promotes development that is more integrated, efficient, and environmentally friendly, thereby enhancing the value of resource utilization. This project also helps to attract leading companies in the titanium dioxide industry to Guizhou, opening up opportunities for the development of titanium dioxide and related industries in the province and contributing to the improvement and expansion of its industrial chains.
It is understood that the \"phosphorus-sulfur-titanium-copper-iron-lithium-fluorine\" coupled cycle integration project is Guiyang’s first project worth over 10 billion yuan by 2025, and it serves as a demonstration project for an industry based on the circular utilization of all resources with phosphorus as the key element. The total investment in this project amounts to 33.1 billion yuan. It was developed jointly by the Guiyang Municipal Government and Guizhou Phosphorus Chemical (Group) Co., Ltd., in collaboration with companies such as China National Nuclear Huayuan Titanium Dioxide and China Minmetals Resources Group. The goal is to create an innovative model for the integrated development of new energy materials and traditional chemical industries through the consolidation of resources across the entire industry chain. The project includes the construction of facilities for producing 1.4 million tons of ferrous sulfate heptahydrate, along with 400,000 tons of titanium dioxide, 600,000 tons of iron phosphate, 600,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate, 150,000 tons of lithium carbonate, 10,000 tons of lithium fluoride, 20,000 tons of lithium hexafluorophosphate. It also involves copper smelting, the decomposition of phosphogypsum to produce sulfuric acid, cogeneration projects, as well as various auxiliary and supporting infrastructure projects. In terms of the project timeline, on April 27, 2025, the site preparation work for this project commenced, along with the construction of the pile foundations for the main factory building; completion of the first-phase production line capable of producing 600,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate is planned by the end of 2025. The project adopts a model of construction and operation simultaneously; the first production lines are expected to come online in 2026, with the entire industrial chain reaching full capacity by 2028.
