China’s largest single-series methanol synthesis and syngas purification plants have come online in Yulin

Recently, the commissioning ceremony was held for the methanol synthesis unit, syngas purification unit, vinyl acetate production unit, as well as the liquid storage and transportation facilities related to the olefins, aromatics, and advanced processing components of the first phase of the 15-million-ton-per-year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products, undertaken under the EPC contract by Donghua Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., which is affiliated with China National Chemical Corporation. This project is carried out by Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. All 4 sets of installations have fully entered the general contracting implementation phase. Among them, the methanol synthesis unit and the syngas purification unit are currently the largest single-series units under construction in China. 　　The project is located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of Yushen Industrial Zone, Dabaochang Town, Shenmu City, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. It builds upon the first phase of the Yulin Chemical Project owned by Shaanxi Coal Group; it relies on coal pyrolysis, coal tar hydrogenation, and pulverized coke gasification technologies as its core, and integrates coal pyrolysis, coal/partially carbonized coke gasification, as well as downstream processing technologies. This approach aims to further expand and extend the industrial chain, explore new pathways for the combined development of coal-based olefins and coal-based aromatics, thereby achieving high-value and diversified utilization of raw coal on a large scale. 　　Donghua Company stated that this project is a concrete example of its thorough implementation of the “T+EPC” model.
