Classification of pressure pipelines

Everyone, let’s discuss a rather interesting question together. Is the pressure rating classification for the outer tube of a jacketed tube based solely on the medium inside the jacket, or is it taken into account together with the medium inside the inner tube? In my opinion, as a system, the jacketed pipe should be considered as a whole, taking into account both the inner tube and the outer tube; the highest grade among these two determines the grade of the entire pipeline system 【for example, if the inner tube is GC2 and the outer tube is GC3, then the overall grade of the pipeline is still GC2】. The medium in ordinary coats is relatively simple, being water or steam. It won’t be more complex or taller than the inner sleeve. I haven’t encountered such a situation in actual design work. In the event of such a situation, I agree with the original poster’s view – the one with the higher rank should take precedence.
For the designers, greater safety is obviously better, but for the owners, it’s better to save as much money as possible. It depends on how the two sides can reach a compromise
The jacket usually contains media used for heating, insulation, or cooling; these are typically non-toxic, non-corrosive, and non-flammable gases or liquids. The pressure level of these pipes is relatively low, and the media in the jacket must not corrode the inner pipe, nor must they react with the media in the main pipe to produce toxic, corrosive, or flammable substances. The jacketed pipes provide cushioning and protection for the main pipe, but there is no need to increase its pressure level
