Do internal floating roof tanks require mechanical breather valves?
It’s not necessary, right?. . . . . . . . . . .
The ventilation holes in the outer arch allow for free breathing; there are no restrictions, and the pressure remains at normal levels, so a breathing valve is not necessary in this case.
No need; the floating disk floats with the liquid level, so it’s useless even if it’s used. Keeping normal pressure inside the tank is sufficient
Not necessary; a breathing valve is required when an internal floating roof is equipped with a nitrogen sealing system!

Depending on the capacity of the storage tank, a different number of ventilation openings are provided on the top deck of the tank, near the roof portion of the tank; these openings usually face downward and are equipped with filters, allowing the gas inside the tank space on the floating deck to be in direct contact with the atmosphere. It is necessary to carry out anti-corrosion treatment on the inner wall of the storage tank. However, for special materials, nitrogen sealing should be considered (no ventilation windows, with an additional safety valve).
If a nitrogen seal is used with the internal floating disk, a control valve is required; without a nitrogen seal, one is not needed, and normal pressure inside the tank is sufficient.
