Request for help: Medium-pressure vessel (5 MPa), temperature of 450 degrees, diameter of 1200 mm, shell thickness of 38 mm; the manway section of the vessel is reinforced using forgings, with the thickness of these forgings being 55 mm. In this case, should the connection between the piping and the vessel body be of the socket type or the plug type? Addition: 1. Is the placement method suitable for welding large pipes (DN100 and above) to the cylinder? Because only with large-sized connections is it possible for the thickness of the connection to be greater than that of the cylinder. 2. What does it mean, according to HG20583, when it says that fixed connections are used for smaller connections? At what size of opening does the nozzle become unusable?
How big is the manhole?* Insert-type ones are more common, but the fixed-type version also has its advantages: it allows for a reduced wall thickness of the pipe connections, less welding is required, and the deformation and stress levels might be better as well. I’m not sure if the inner circle will need to be bored out eventually; that’s quite a hassle
In many cases, the plug-in type is chosen. . I also don’t understand why there’s such a resistance to sitting on top. . At most, as some standards state, it is not suitable for use under severe operating conditions. .

The fabrication and installation of socketed fittings are easier than those of plug-in fittings. . But for subsequent inspections, it’s clear at a glance. . In many cases where welding is not possible internally and detection is also not feasible, people tend to avoid it. It’s all done with plug welding; anyway, you can’t see it anyway. .

Use a fixed-type one; the diameter is 1200 mm, with an access hole of 450 mm + 55 mm × 2 + bevels – the opening size is too large. However, the fixed-type is difficult to process and requires end caps to be forged. Some require boring after welding. This is a test for processing capacity.
Sleeve-type connections can only be used for diameters of DN100mm or less. Instructions are provided next to the joint in this method; our factory has used it, and it is quite troublesome – it is far less simple to use than plug-in types. It is mostly employed in high-pressure containers with particularly thick walls.
