Experts, what is a good material to use for pressure pipelines made of molten caustic soda (NaOH) at 450°C? Seeking advice sincerely?
Austenitic stainless steel will do; the most commonly used types are 304, 321, and similar ones.
For the molten state of sodium hydroxide at 450 degrees, nickel and nickel alloys are required; ordinary stainless steel can only be used at temperatures below 80 degrees, and this also depends on the concentration. Refer to pages 208/209 of the \"Corrosion Data and Material Selection Manual\"
May I ask, if a nickel alloy is to be used, which type of nickel alloy tube should be employed? What is the standard number?
Basically, nickel tubes are the only option; N4 or N6 according to the standards used upstairs, or Ni200 or Ni201 according to the American standards.
