How to use a falling film evaporator in Aspen Plus?

Thread Content

Hello everyone, in my Aspen Plus simulations, I would like to add a falling film evaporator. For previous evaporator simulations, I used the HEAT + flash method; now I’m wondering if there is any setting that allows me to include a falling film evaporator as well. Can falling-film evaporators and rising-film evaporators be distinguished in Aspen Plus? O(∩_∩)O Thank you

It is not possible to distinguish; specific detailed calculations for falling-film evaporators use EDR

Oh. In other words, when simulating a process flow in Aspen Plus, it is not possible to distinguish the differences resulting from the use of a falling-film evaporator versus a rising-film evaporator. To design such evaporators, EDR can be utilized. Right? :)

Okay. O(∩_∩)O Thank you. Qiang Ge is doing well at work (I’m not sure if that’s true)

You’re doing evaporation concentration, right? Is crystallization involved?
Yes, it is MVR evaporation concentration; no crystallization is involved, and it is planned to be burned directly.

In EDR, must the falling film evaporator be vertical? Must hot steam flow only through the shell side? How to set it up?

So, what exactly is the EDR module? Is it built into Aspen?
