Double-end mechanical seal

I have a set of double-end mechanical seals here; the outer side uses grade 53A material, with an external pressure of 4 kilograms, and the pressure inside the sealing chamber is around 2 kilograms. After the seals were in operation for some time, leakage occurred. Upon disassembly, it was found that the dynamic and static ring surfaces on the medium side had separated, while the surfaces on the atmospheric side were intact. These seals are of the modular type. I would like to know why the ring surfaces separated (the dynamic ring is made of cemented carbide, while the static ring is a bellows type)
What does it mean to open? What does it mean for the static and dynamic rings to be open? Broken? There are no pictures at all
