Questions about drinking beverages on the subway

I saw a news story today about a young couple who were fined for bringing drinks onto the subway, as it could cause other people to slip if the drinks were spilled.
Personally, I think this shouldn’t be punished; are we supposed to be punished for drinking water in public places like squares as well? If one wants to find fault, there’s no end to it. If slipping does indeed occur, liability is another matter
Shenzhen has introduced such a rule: eating is strictly prohibited on the subway. Slipping is just one aspect of it. If there is food residue left behind, it can easily attract rats. As we all know, rats have teeth that grow very quickly, so they need to keep gnawing on things to wear them down. Once they bite into wires, signal lines, etc., it poses a risk to the safety of subway travel.
If such a situation really exists, then rules should also be established for ordinary trains – would people then stop eating instant noodles?

There is no excuse for not eating. Drinking water is not allowed either. . That’s a bit harsh

There are significant differences in terms of the environment in which subways, light rails, and trains operate, the sealing of their foundations, the methods of electrical wiring, and the purposes for which passengers use them. In my opinion, on such subways and light rails, it should not only be prohibited to eat and drink, but during peak hours it should even be forbidden to read newspapers, magazines, or use mobile phones, as such activities significantly affect the comfort of other passengers around. Just look at how crowded the subway is; people are even holding their phones and sticking them against others’ backs to watch things – it’s really annoying.

I remember there are signs prohibiting it on some buses and subways. It’s actually good to think about others as well.
