The USB drives on the public computers keep getting infected with viruses

Lately I’ve been using a USB drive on public computers frequently, and every time I plug it in, it gets infected; the files cannot be deleted, and I’ve formatted the drive several times. Finally, I tried a USB drive with write protection, but the results weren’t very good. Do any experts have any suggestions?
