Cut-off valves were developed to address the problem that ordinary gate valves tend to cause sediment buildup in substances such as coal slurry, mineral slurry, and pulp, which makes it difficult to open and close the valves; however, they have poor sealing properties. The knife switch is lightweight and occupies little space. May I ask, apart from the aforementioned slurry applications, can a knife switch be used as a substitute for a gate valve in other situations? For example, in forced circulation crystallization, where the medium is saline wastewater containing sulfuric acid, at 100 degrees Celsius, can knife valves be used in place of gate valves at the inlet and outlet of the circulation pump? Which is more expensive, a circuit breaker or a gate valve of the same specifications?
It depends on the requirements of the circulation pump; if leaks are not allowed, then it won’t work
There is still much room for improvement in domestic circuit breakers; having tried products from several manufacturers, I found that their performance is indeed inferior to that of imported ones. If a small amount of leakage is allowed, it still seems feasible to consider.
Generally, a knife gate valve can replace a gate valve, but it is more expensive than a regular gate valve and is used only when necessary. The production of knife gate valves requires high levels of mechanical precision and advanced valve design capabilities; many domestically produced knife gate valves only have the external appearance of such valves, showing a significant gap compared to imported ones

Yes, generally, knife valves of the same quality level are more expensive than gate valves.
As far as I know, knife valves are expensive. A knife valve is also known as a knife gate valve.
Thank you. I had originally planned to take advantage of the small size, light weight, and low cost of knife valves to replace gate valves. It seems we can’t do that.
