The company’s boilers are medium-pressure boilers (with a maximum steam generation pressure of 3.5 MPa). The boiler feed water is demineralized water, and the demineralization system is relatively simple, consisting of an activated carbon tank, a softener (anion exchange resin), and RO reverse osmosis membranes. The chloride content in the desalinated water produced by the desalination system is between 10–20 mg/L (it’s normal that chloride cannot be removed since there is no anion exchange bed—this is my personal opinion). As the boiler generates steam, the chloride content in the boiler water will surely double, and this increase in chloride concentration will inevitably accelerate the corrosion of equipment and pipes. I’ve checked various standards, and it seems there are no requirements for controlling chloride ions. After looking up information online, some people say it’s all a matter of experience: keeping the chloride ions in the boiler water at less than 400 is sufficient. Is there anyone who can explain this or provide the relevant standards?
The level of chloride ions has a significant impact on the corrosion of stainless steel materials, and different types of stainless steel require different levels of chloride ions. I haven’t found any specific provisions in documents or materials yet! :)

Although there are no specific requirements regarding chloride ions in terms of boiler water quality, there is a recommended range for pH.
