I have recently been interested in the methane content in the gas components produced by gasification. Preliminary research shows that it is relatively high in coke oven gas, while the methane content in other types of gas (such as blast furnace gas and water gas) is relatively low. I would like to ask those who are experienced in gasification: among the various gasification processes, which ones result in a higher methane content? I’m talking about industrialized ones. There shouldn’t be any with a methane content greater than 25%.
At present, only Ruhr-100 and the so-called catalytic gasification can achieve a content of over 20, but there are no industrial facilities for either.
Thank you for your reply. I have read many papers, and it appears that methane constitutes a relatively high proportion of the components resulting from the thermal gasification of coal in a furnace. The leadership now wants to initiate a project focused on the applications of gases produced after gasification, and first needs to understand the composition of these gases. Thank you for the reply.

Also, I’m not sure why the main target component in gas conversion is usually syngas To produce oil? Make methanol? Increase calorific value? Could you give me some basic information? Thank you.
