Dear sea friends: Our company uses an external single-effect crystallization process in ammonia-based desulfurization towers for flue gas desulfurization. Recent operations have revealed that the liquid extraction phenomenon in the single-effect evaporator is quite severe. Observation showed a large amount of foam forming at the sight glass, the amount of heating steam used was reduced by half, the temperature inside the single-effect evaporator was higher than normal, and the negative pressure at the outlet of the evaporator was lower than usual. This phenomenon has occurred before; analysis revealed the presence of phosphate ions in the slurry (the water used for evaporation in the desulfurization tower comes from the ash water from gasification units and the condensate from conversion processes, all of which contain a certain amount of phosphate ions). After removing these ions, this water was not used any longer. Currently, the water used for evaporation in the desulfurization tower is raw water along with the condensate produced by evaporation heating. Dear sea friends, please help analyze what causes foam to form and liquid to be drawn out in the single-effect evaporator. I’m counting on everyone here.
