Oil temperature and dry gas seal issues in centrifugal compressors
Thread Content
Could someone please give some advice? Our centrifugal compressor experiences an increase in the leakage pressure difference of the dry gas seal when the oil temperature is reduced. Please advise; thank you
Can the increase in the leakage pressure difference of the dry gas seal you mentioned be considered as an increase in the leakage volume of the dry gas seal? The increased leakage in the dry gas seal is likely not related to a decrease in oil temperature; rather, the increase in leakage is caused by varying degrees of damage to the dry gas seal.
There is no inevitable connection; changes in rotational speed or axial displacement, or seal damage, may lead to changes in pressure difference
Please provide the dry gas seal control PID diagram
An increase or decrease in oil temperature alters the thickness of the oil film, and changes in the oil film can affect the vibration patterns of the equipment, thereby causing changes in the pressure difference across the seal. Specifically, check other parameters during on-site operation.
