The ammonia synthesis catalyst has been in use for 8 years; the thermocouples used for instrument testing are accurate, but recently the temperature at the hot spot has been fluctuating significantly. No adjustment; it fluctuates on its own. What’s going on?
1. Check whether any foreign substances (such as water vapor) have entered the thermocouple sleeve. 2. Verify whether there have been any changes in the composition of the gas entering the tower, such as the CO content; (Analyzing the components of imported gas) 3. Catalyst aging is also a possibility ; 4. Have there been any changes in the gas flow rate and pressure in the previous section? ; 5. Whether there are fluctuations in the circulation air volume, etc ; 6. Are there any faults in the separation and cooling systems? ; 7. Has there been any leakage or air leakage from the internal components? 7、
Two additional points: 1. Is the hydrogen-to-nitrogen ratio out of balance? 2. Is the ammonia content entering the tower fluctuating?
Catalyst aging, pressure, fluctuations in gas flow, and then there are instrument issues – all of these need to be checked one by one
There were no fluctuations in ours. Normally, the thermocouples on the instruments are quite accurate and stable. There was only one instance when it rained and the temperature at one sensor dropped suddenly, but the temperatures at the other sensors remained unchanged; after investigation, it turned out that rainwater had gotten into that thermocouple. I haven’t encountered other situations yet
