What should be done if a Class A storage tank contains more than one day’s worth of volume and needs to be placed in a room? Because building codes stipulate that for Class A storage tanks, the amount of storage allowed in a room must not exceed one day’s supply, and firewalls must be installed along the exterior walls.

For Class A storage tanks holding more than a day’s worth of volume, storing it in a room represents a source of risk; it is not recommended to do so. It is best to set up a separate tank area and transfer the liquid through pipes to the intermediate storage tank in the workshop.
Only by constructing a tank area separately, with a distance that meets the requirement specified in Note 3 of Article 4.2.1 of the Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings (GB50016-2014), namely 25 meters, will it be compliant; otherwise, it is considered a violation.
