May I ask what methods can be used to correctly determine whether the rotation direction of a centrifugal pump is correct? Please share your ideas generously; there will be rewards
It is determined based on the pump outlet pressure and flow rate
For single-stage, single-suction and single-stage, double-suction pumps, just look at the pump casing; for multi-stage pumps with segmented design, check the balance pipes, while for those with circular cross-section, it’s necessary to refer to the technical documentation
It can be determined based on the size of imports and exports: the inlet diameter is larger while the outlet diameter is smaller
One is to check the pump outlet pressure, and the other is to judge based on the structure of the pump.
For single-stage centrifugal pumps, the direction of rotation can be determined by looking at the flow path within the pump body. For positive displacement pumps, the direction is generally determined based on the rotation indicator on the pump’s surface; it is also possible to determine whether the rotation direction is correct by checking the pressure and flow rate at the pump’s outlet
Generally, AY and Y-type pumps rotate counterclockwise when viewed from the drive side; chemical process pumps rotate clockwise, while for the others it depends on the flow path. Multi-stage pumps generally rotate clockwise, but there are also those that rotate counterclockwise.
1. It is usually indicated on the pump or the motor; determine whether the rotation direction is correct by checking the direction of rotation of the motor blades or the coupling. 2. If no indication is given, the rotation direction can be determined based on the structure of the pump, after which the direction of rotation of the blades or coupling can be checked (it’s generally easier to determine this in pumps with a vortex chamber structure). 3. The outlet valve can be closed after starting the pump to measure the pressure; if the pressure is very low and not at the normal level, it’s possible that the pump is rotating in the reverse direction. If the pressure matches the head value indicated on the pump’s performance curve, then it’s rotating in the correct direction
The inlet and outlet diameters can be used to determine this; if the inlet is larger than the outlet, it depends on the design of the pump as well as its performance in terms of pressure and current
According to the rotation direction indicator of the pump or motor; Based on the shape of the volute ; Depending on the level of export pressure.
