What are the causes of water hammer in the summer condensate main pipes and what measures can be taken to eliminate it? Do anyone have any good suggestions?
Add a supply of constant-temperature water to lower its temperature.
Just add a heat exchanger.
We experienced something like this at the beginning of spring; as the weather warmed up, too much steam started to appear in the drain hoses of some traps. Adjust the traps one by one, or replace them one by one.
Or, the temperature of the condensed liquid exiting is high; combined with the high temperatures in summer, this causes the condensed liquid to vaporize, resulting in a steam hammer! Just lower the temperature at which the condensate is discharged
It’s still the trap that’s faulty; steam is being directed to the back route, which causes water hammer. Installing a heat exchanger is one solution, but it won’t have an effect on the condensate pipeline before the heat exchanger, and it will still cause wear on the pipeline. The best approach is to diagnose the trap and replace it with a proper one.
In many cases, even when the steam trap is not damaged and the bypass is not open, water hammer still occurs in the main condensate pipeline. Inside most condensate pipes, there is a mixture of water and steam at a pressure corresponding to that temperature. If the main condensate pipeline does not deliver water in a truly downward direction, water hammer will definitely occur to some extent; the severity of this phenomenon varies, with longer pipelines generally resulting in more severe water hammer. The general solution is to provide a certain downward slope in the water supply pipes. For areas that require climbing, install condensate climbers. For long-distance transportation over 500 meters, an electric pump recovery unit is installed on-site in the workshop to provide the power needed to transport the condensate, thereby ensuring stable delivery. And it is no longer transported relying on the steam backpressure of the condensed water, thus solving the problem.
