I believe that in this context, mass flow meters have the following advantages: 1. Regarding the necessity of precision: There are clear regulations for the transportation of hazardous materials; the amount of such materials that can be loaded must be minimal, as it involves high-voltage systems that no one is allowed to touch ; Once this issue is clarified, the next thing is the matter of money. This money is mainly related to the conflict between two parties: one is the oil depot and the other is the transportation company. Of course, if it’s a single enterprise, it’s a matter of performance issues between these two departments ; Oil depots face two conflicting demands: on the one hand, they need to improve loading efficiency, and on the other hand, they need to save costs, and both of these are related to money ; The same is true for shipping companies; what matters in terms of cost savings is getting the weight as close as possible to the target value. In other words, for a vehicle with a capacity of 30 tons, the weight is recorded as 29.99 tons (assuming that the scale has a resolution of 10 kg). Therefore, a very clear question arises here: no one wants to overload the load, the delivery company’s vehicles cannot proceed, and the oil depot also has to spend time unloading the cargo; all parties suffer losses, and compliance with laws and regulations is a prerequisite in this situation ; If too little is loaded, the shipping company has to make more trips, and the fuel depot also spends more time. Therefore, everyone hopes for it to be “just right”. The key discussion on necessity is complete. 2. Advantages of mass flow meters: Firstly, they provide direct mass values, which are in line with the standards set by weighbridges and regulatory authorities ; Secondly, it has high precision, which can increase by about three times ; Third, it has a long service life, with a typical design lifespan of over 15 years ; Finally, it has good stability, no moving parts, and thus no wear. 3. Disadvantages of mass flow meters: High initial investment. This answer isn’t the best one; it merely provides a perspective on the issue from the standpoint of mass flow meters. We use mass flow meters for loading station bridges here; firstly, they offer high precision, and secondly, they enable quantitative control.
It depends on the medium being transported. Our company has mass flow meters as well as volume flow meters (when loading, it is necessary to use a density meter to measure the density of the medium in the tank)
Our company originally used floor scales for loading, but later installed mass flow meters and developed an automatic loading system using Siemens S7-300, which significantly improved the accuracy of loading measurements
