What are your insights regarding the feasibility of using online hydrogen sulfide analysis data from desulfurization unit product gas in the unit’s interlock systems? Is that possible? Has it been done before?
I heard for the first time about an online meter.
It is recommended not to participate in interlocking, but to engage in DCS system control; if H2S levels exceed the standards for qualified product gas, the vent can be activated to release the product gas
Is having too many interlocks a good thing?
From personal experience, more interlocks do not necessarily mean greater safety. The online hydrogen sulfide analyzer at the current facility has a large error rate, and it cannot provide accurate guidance for operations. I wonder, if these analysis results are used in interlocking, what plans do you have? Shut down the plant via interlock at low concentration?
No, I’m referring to gaseous hydrogen sulfide as specified in GB17820. If it gets too high, vent the product gas. Given the reliability and accuracy of online analyzers, a 2-out-of-2 method is planned to be adopted.
Interlocking has its advantages; relatively speaking, the responsibilities borne by the operators might be lighter! Personally, however, such values are not recommended to be used in interlock systems; the accuracy of the current online analysis instruments is questionable, and the consequences resulting therefrom may not be reliably controllable by human intervention!
