1. This is an early form of valve packing seal. It does not have the capability for re-tightening. If the packing fails to seal, it will no longer be possible to re-seal it by applying preload. 2. As can be seen from the image, this valve does not have a grease injection valve for emergency sealing at its packing area; therefore, it is not possible to achieve emergency sealing by injecting sealing grease from the outside through such a valve. 3. This small hole is a sealing inspection hole, used to detect early on any leakage of the sealing medium and prevent it from entering the operating actuator. Here, the user has had no choice but to use it as a drainage hole. 4. Solution: First, inquire with the manufacturer about the sealing packing structure of this valve. If the pressure used is not high (and the valve structure appears to be designed for low pressures), and conditions permit, re-sealing can be achieved by releasing pressure, removing the valve support, adding packing or seal rings, and then re-securing the valve stem support. 5. Do not operate under pressure; this valve generally does not have a reverse-sealing mechanism.
