What is the priority order when the UPS loses mains power?

When the mains power supply from UPS is lost, one approach is to first switch to the battery; only after the battery’s charge is depleted is the bypass switched on； Another approach is to first switch to the bypass supply (the bypass and mains power usually come from different sources), and then switch to the battery. Which method is better? What is the switching sequence for UPS units of different brands? I know Power Pioneer is the first type; it seems Emerson is the second?
We adopt a unified UPS system across the entire company: when the mains power fails, the UPS switches to batteries to continue supplying power, while simultaneously sending a power failure alert to the control room; the electrical team then checks the status of the UPS to determine whether it has switched to bypass mode.
