Here we have industrial steam turbines, and the shaft bearings on both sides tend to vibrate simultaneously for no apparent reason. All operating parameters of the steam-water system appear normal before such vibrations occur; it happens from time to time, without any pattern. By reducing the load, the vibration will return to normal, and it will appear again after some time. I would like to ask my friends: have you encountered this kind of problem? Is it a condensing type or a back-pressure type? Is there a bit of surge?

There are many reasons for such vibration, and each one needs to be examined, such as the relationship between changes in the load on the driven equipment and the vibration
Check whether the chamber pressure and exhaust temperature in the next cycle are normal.
Is there no turbine surge detection system?
Rotor instability may be related to oil temperature and steam seal steam pressure. It would be good to have an online vibration monitoring system, as it allows for spectral analysis to identify the source of vibration.
Bring up the curve of vibration values along with the curves of other parameters for comparative observation; when the vibration values increase, check how the other parameter curves change. If the increase in vibration values is due to issues with the process system, then the other parameters will also change accordingly – there is a corresponding relationship between them, which makes it easier to identify the problem.
