Why does too small a bearing clearance cause an increase in temperature? Is it because the excessive contact between the balls and the rings leads to an overall rise in the temperature of those rings, or is there some other reason?

However, a too small clearance does not mean no clearance at all; as long as the bearing is subjected to the same load, the force exerted on it will be the same. It’s like having a 1000N force acting 3 meters above an object – this is the same as having a 1000N force acting 1 meter above the object. In the end, regardless of how far away the force is from the object, the object will still experience a force of 1000N
