How to adjust the intermediate pressure of a piston compressor? How can the compression ratio of a compressor that has already been designed be adjusted?
It can be adjusted using a loop control valve!
For a compressor that has already been designed, adjustment methods can only be determined based on the specific operating conditions. If the overall inlet and exhaust pressures of the compressor remain constant, so as not to significantly affect the volume of air discharged, the compression ratio can be adjusted slightly using the following method: the compression ratio is adjusted by modifying the clearance volume in the cylinders between stages; this approach is convenient and practical if the clearance in each stage can be adjusted; If the clearance volume at each stage is fixed, it depends on the circumstances; it is necessary to determine whether to increase the clearance volume before or after a stage in order to decide on the modifications required for the corresponding cylinder block. In any case, when changing the intermediate compression ratio, the manufacturer should conduct a thorough calculation.
Why adjust the intermediate stage pressure? If the intermediate stage is connected to the external process and pressure requirements exist, they are controlled and adjusted by the external process. If there is no connection with the outside world, it’s better not to make any adjustments. Because, by adjusting according to the method suggested by our allies upstairs, the intermediate stage pressure decreases, which in turn increases the compression ratio at the final stage. The circuit valve in the compressor is used to adjust the gas flow rate, not to adjust the pressure at the intermediate stages. Factors affecting intermediate stage pressure: inlet pressure, clearance volume, air leakage (piston rings, valves, circuit valves, safety valves, discharge valves), and cooling heat exchange. With the exception of valves and safety valves which cannot be used for adjustment, all the other factors can be utilized to regulate the intermediate stage pressure.
