What is the role of the balance section in a piston compressor? And the flow state of the gas in the balance section pipeline?

In piston compressors, the balancing section is primarily used in single-acting differential cylinders (where both the shaft side and the gas side are single-acting cylinders). Its main function is to reduce fluctuations in the gas piston force caused by large pressure differences between the inlet and outlet ports of the differential cylinders; in other words, it helps to minimize fluctuations in the overall piston force. It also reduces the torque on the flywheel to a certain extent. A better understanding can be achieved by examining the power analysis of the compressor.
The balance section of the differential piston design is primarily used to expel the gas that leaks from the piston rings during the compression stage from this balance section into the lower-stage system; another function of it is to balance the piston forces.
