I have a question: Can a Class E factory building with a fire resistance rating of Grade 1 be directly converted into a Class A factory building? Because of its high fire resistance rating, I personally think it’s acceptable. What needs to be adjusted is the fire protection system in the factory building; everything else can remain unchanged. Is that the right way to understand it? Thank you
In addition to fire protection, there should also be measures for preventing explosions in power facilities, as well as considerations regarding flammable and toxic substances, and designs for blast walls on rooftops or walls; It mainly still requires design (such as spacing issues)
It’s not that simple; just a few points. First: the fire resistance rating of the firewalls in Class 5 buildings is 3 hours, while for Class A and B buildings, this rating must be 4 hours. Second: Class V, Group 1 factories are not high-rise buildings; there is no limit on the area of fire compartments in such factories. However, for Class A factories, the area of each fire compartment cannot exceed 4,000 square meters. Third: Class V, Group 1 factories can be high-rise, while Class A factories are usually single-story. There’s also the distance from any point within the factory to the safety exit, and so on; in short, there are many details. On the surface they are all grade one, but the actual differences are significant
Look up the building code GB50016; it contains clear and detailed information.
