I would like to ask everyone: which companies across the country have a relatively large scale in the generation of electricity using coke oven gas? Where can I find more specific statistical figures such as installed capacity, power generation volume, and other information? The background is that I’m conducting industry research; the proportion of coke oven gas used for power generation is not high, and it’s somewhat difficult to identify the relevant companies. Are there any advantages to generating electricity using coke oven gas?
Between 2005 and 2010, power generation using residual coke oven gas was quite common, and it played a role in ensuring stable electricity supply for production. Later, due to the rapid development of hydroelectric power, which provided a stable and sufficient supply of electricity, the use of coke oven gas for power generation became rare. I recall that a coking plant with a capacity of 600,000 tons per year was equipped with a 6,000 KW generator set, producing 40 million kWh of electricity per year.
Now, there are very few projects for generating electricity using coke oven gas; most of them are based on designs from the past. How great it is to generate electricity using dry quenching of coke – it makes use of waste heat, is environmentally friendly, saves energy, and can also generate profits.
